Updates to our plans and pricing
Updates to our plans and pricing
Today we’re announcing some significant changes to our plans and pricing. We believe these updates make the plans simpler to understand whilst delivering more value for our customers. Before we jump into the details, we’d like to make it clear that all current customers on standard plans with live automations will remain on their existing plan for the next 3 months, which we’re calling the ‘grace period’. This will give everyone plenty of time to transition to the new plans. If you’re a WeatherAds customer with ongoing active campaigns which are not covered by the 3-month grace period, or you’re on a custom plan, please reach out to our team for additional solutions.
Summary of changes
• We have simplified our pricing down into 4 plans with varying levels of features and support. These are Economy, Growth, Premium and Enterprise.
• The Economy plan is a dedicated plan for small businesses, priced at $25 per month.
• Users can upgrade, downgrade and cancel their subscriptions at any time.
• You can now choose to be billed in different currencies, including US Dollars, Great British Pounds, and Euros.
• If you have an active subscription, you will be charged either a small percentage of your weather targeted ad spend, or the minimum monthly fee, whichever is higher.
• The minimum monthly fee applies to all active subscriptions (i.e. subscriptions that have not been cancelled) irrespective on whether or not they have accrued spend.
Overview of plan types
There are 4 plans to choose from with varying levels of features and support. They are Economy, Growth, Premium and Enterprise. All plans give you access to the core WeatherAds platform. However, there are several key differences between the plans, with the main ones being; your monthly weather-targeted ad spend volume, the selection of triggers, the level of support provided, the payment methods accepted and the commitment term length.
Choosing a plan
When choosing your plans, the first thing you will want to consider is how much monthly weather-targeted spend you will be running through WeatherAds (combined across all campaigns and ad platforms). Use this figure as the benchmark to determine which plan will suit you best. In addition, you should consider which types of targeting triggers you will need for your campaign. If the triggers include Premium indices such as pollen, air quality or health data, then you will need the Premium or Enterprise plan. All plans except for Economy are rolling monthly contracts which give you the flexibility to upgrade, downgrade or cancel your subscription at any time. When selecting your plan, you can choose to be billed in US Dollars, Great British Pounds or Euros.
A dedicated plan for small businesses
The Economy Plan is a dedicated plan for small businesses, specifically those with a total monthly advertising spend of less than 1,000 USD/ GBP/ EUR per month across all weather targeted campaigns. After significant research initiatives, we have concluded that there are tens of thousands of small online and local businesses that are affected by the weather in terms of sales or footfall. Our goal is to make weather and environmental moment marketing accessible to these businesses at an affordable rate. The introduction of the economy plan at 25 USD/ GBP/ EUR per month now makes this a reality.
Changes to the way your WeatherAds fee is calculated
If you are subscribed to the Growth, Premium or Enterprise plans, every month you will be charged either your normal plan rate (as percentage of weather targeted ad spend) or the minimum billing amount, whichever is higher for that billing cycle month. Your monthly fee is calculated as a small percentage of your total spend across all campaigns that have live automations in WeatherAds. If you do not run up any spend, or your spend is lower than the minimum threshold on any billing cycle month, you will be charged the minimum billing fee in leu of the normal percentage fee.
The Economy Plan is priced somewhat differently to the other plans – there is no percentage fee or minimum billing. Pricing is a flat 25 USD/ GBP / EUR per month irrespective of spend or usage. There is a minimum 12-month commitment term and a monthly spend cap of 1000 USD / GBP / EUR in weather targeted ad spend.
Minimum billing working example
Let's say you subscribe to the Growth plan. The first month you spend $5,000 in weather targeted ad spend. The Growth plan fee is calculated as 9% of $5,000 which is $450. Since $450 is greater than the minimum billing of $149, your fee for that month is $450.
Let's assume the following month you only spend $1,000. 9% of 1,000 is only $90, which is less than the minimum billing of $149, and so you are charged the minimum fee of $149 instead of the standard 9% rate. Note: the minimum billing is a recurring monthly charge applied to all active (i.e. not cancelled) subscriptions, irrespective of whether or not the account has accrued any spend or had any activity over the billing cycle month.
Subscriptions and cancellations
Under the old pricing model, to end your subscription you simply had to stop running spend through WeatherAds, since there was no charge for accounts that amassed zero spend. Pausing your usage was tantamount to putting your subscription on pause.
The new pricing model works differently, and we want to be transparent with you about why that is. Going forward, customers subscribed to a plan will be subject to a recurring monthly subscription fee (minimum billing) for the duration of their subscription (i.e. until they cancel their plan), even if they do not accrue any spend or otherwise have any account activity during that time. These changes bring our plans into closer alignment with the standard pricing model for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products such Dropbox, Buffer or Salesforce, as well as more accurately reflecting our own overheads such as server costs and data fees.
Users can cancel their subscription at any time. This is done by navigating to the subscription settings within your dashboard and hitting 'cancel subscription'. This will terminate your WeatherAds subscription, ending the monthly subscription fee, effective from the following billing cycle.
Removal of the prepay plan
We have removed the Fixed Term (prepay) option from our plans in order to make them simpler and more intuitive to understand. However, it is worth noting that whilst there is no self-select prepay option, we are still happy to accommodate any customers who wish to pay in advance for their campaign. Anyone wishing to pay for their campaign in advance will receive a discounted rate according to you total campaign budget and duration. Please reach out to our team to find out more.
Levels of customer support
With the rollout of the new plans we are offering varying levels of customer support as a plan differentiator. This allows us to be more efficient in dealing with customer support enquiries and helps us set more accurate expectations with our users. For example, the Economy plan is a purely self-serve model. Subscribers will have access to our library of quick start training guides, tutorial videos and the help center database, but will not receive personalized support. This is factored in to the economics of the Economy plan and is a major reason we are able to offer this plan at such an affordable price point.
As users move up the plans, they will receive higher levels of personalized support, with email support offered for the Growth Plan, chat support for the Premium plan, and virtual meeting room support with a dedicated account manager for Enterprise clients.
